Stable, but not immune to market shifts
Pros: Being a big corporate player in the consumer electronics industry definitely has its perks. You get solid health benefits and the pay for Product Manager roles is generally competitive. There's a decent sense of stability for day-to-day operations in our Englewood Cliffs, NJ office.
Cons: Job security isn't what it used to be, even here. We've seen a few rounds of layoffs in my department, which makes you nervous. Project priorities change fast, and if your project gets cut, you might be looking for new work internally.
Advice to Management: Communicate upcoming changes and potential restructuring much more clearly. Transparency would really help with employee morale and reduce anxiety.

Okay place for engineers, but leadership is mixed
Pros: I really liked the stability working here as a Software Engineer in the Englewood Cliffs, NJ office. The projects in consumer electronics R&D were solid, and you get to learn from experienced folks. Standard 40-hour work weeks were mostly the norm, which was a plus for a big corporate environment.
Cons: Leadership can be very top-down and slow, especially when trying to innovate. It's tough to get new software ideas approved, and sometimes it feels like upper management doesn't truly grasp the day-to-day engineering challenges. Communication from the top isn't always clear, leading to some frustration.
Advice to Management: Try to empower middle management more and listen to the engineering teams on the ground. Be more open to innovation and quicker decision-making processes.

Decent Pay, But Corporate Culture is Slow
Pros: LG Electronics offers really good pay and benefits, especially compared to other consumer electronics companies. As a Product Manager, the medical plan was solid. You also get to work on well-known products, which is a plus for your resume.
Cons: The company culture is pretty rigid and hierarchical. It's tough getting decisions made quickly, especially for new product ideas within big tech. Work-life balance isn't great in the Englewood Cliffs, NJ office, with long hours often expected.
Advice to Management: Management needs to empower teams more. Break down some of the bureaucracy, especially for new product initiatives. Encourage more agile practices in the tech industry to keep up with competitors.

Okay for Stability, Culture Needs Work
Pros: Job stability is solid; you don't really worry about layoffs here. The benefits package for us in the Englewood Cliffs office was decent, especially the health insurance. I also learned a lot about the supply chain and manufacturing side of the consumer electronics industry.
Cons: The company culture can feel pretty old-school and hierarchical. Decision-making is really slow, which is tough for product manager roles when you need to be agile. There's not much encouragement for new ideas, and it can be hard to get things changed, even small process improvements.
Advice to Management: Focus on empowering mid-level managers and promoting a more agile, less hierarchical decision-making process. Encourage innovation and listen more to feedback from employees in roles like Product Manager who are on the front lines with product development.

Leadership is Okay, Room to Improve
Pros: My direct manager was pretty supportive. I felt like I could learn a lot about the consumer electronics industry. The benefits are solid for a big tech company.
Cons: Upper leadership often felt disconnected from our projects. It's tough to get quick decisions approved, which slows down product development. Innovation sometimes feels stifled in this corporate structure.
Advice to Management: Try to be more present with the teams actually developing products. Quicker decision-making would really help us compete better in the consumer electronics market.

Okay Experience in Consumer Electronics
Pros: LG is a huge player in the consumer electronics industry, so there's a certain level of overall company stability. As a Product Manager here, I had solid project exposure and worked on some cool tech. It's generally stable for individual contributors working onsite.
Cons: However, there's always restructuring happening which can make job security feel a bit shaky, especially for mid-level roles. Things can change fast in this big tech environment, and the impacts aren't always communicated clearly. It creates some uncertainty about long-term roles.
Advice to Management: Be more transparent with employees about long-term strategic changes. It would help ease concerns about job security when projects or teams shift.

Okay for Stability, Tough for Career Growth
Pros: It's a stable place to work, which is nice for job security. You get to work on real consumer electronics products. Benefits are decent for a big corporate company, and the Santa Clara office environment is fine.
Cons: Career growth for technical roles, especially as a Software Engineer, is really slow here. There aren't many clear paths for upward mobility. It feels like you're often stuck at your current level unless someone leaves, making progression tough.
Advice to Management: Management needs to create clearer career paths and more transparent promotion cycles for engineers. Give people more opportunities to grow and advance internally.

Big Company, Culture Needs Some Tweaks
Pros: I learned a ton working on product development for LG's consumer electronics. My direct team was really supportive, and you get exposed to a lot of global projects. The benefits were solid for a big tech company.
Cons: The corporate environment can feel pretty slow sometimes. Decisions take ages, and there's a lot of bureaucracy, which can be frustrating for a Product Manager. The hybrid work model often felt more like mandatory onsite days than true flexibility.
Advice to Management: Try to empower teams more and speed up the decision-making process. More genuine flexibility for the hybrid model would really help improve morale and make it a better place for Product Manager roles.
