Decent Work-Life, But Travel Can Be Tough
Pros: For Field Service Technician roles, you do get a good amount of autonomy. The team in the Dallas, TX office is really supportive. When not on the road, work-from-home options are okay.
Cons: Travel for mining equipment service can really eat into your personal time. Sometimes, you're working 12-hour days on an urgent site. It's hard to maintain a consistent 40-hour week.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage travel expectations and client demands to allow for more predictable schedules for field staff. Consider more support for those frequently away from home.

Culture's Decent, Work Can Be Demanding
Pros: Good benefits and there's job stability working for a big corporate company like Epiroc. My team in Denver, CO, is pretty collaborative, which helps when you're out troubleshooting mining equipment.
Cons: The company culture can feel a bit rigid sometimes, not much room for quick changes. As a Field Service Engineer, I've had to deal with really inconsistent work-life balance due to urgent service calls for drilling solutions.
Advice to Management: Try to improve work-life balance for field-based roles. More support for those dealing with urgent heavy machinery repairs could really boost morale.

Culture is Decent, But Could Improve
Pros: As a Field Service Technician, the team in the Houston, TX office is pretty solid. We're good at helping each other out on tough service calls, which is key for heavy machinery. There's a decent sense of community among the technicians.
Cons: It's tough when management feels so far removed from the ground level. We don't get much feedback or recognition for the long hours spent on drilling technology repairs. The corporate culture doesn't always translate well to the field.
Advice to Management: Management needs to connect more with field teams. Come out and see what we actually do. Recognizing hard work would go a long way for morale.

Career Growth is a Bit Stagnant Here
Pros: You do get to work with some pretty advanced mining equipment and heavy machinery. There's good exposure to different tech if you're a Field Service Engineer. The onsite training can be decent for specific tools.
Cons: Honestly, career growth feels pretty slow. There isn't much of a clear path for internal promotion in the Denver, CO office. It's tough to move up unless someone leaves or retires.
Advice to Management: Management really needs to create clearer career progression paths. It would help a lot with retaining talent, especially for technical roles. Invest in mentorship programs.

Service Technician Role: Tough on Work-Life Balance
Pros: You get to work with really interesting mining equipment and drilling solutions. The pay for overtime is solid, which helps offset the long hours for onsite Service Technician roles.
Cons: Work-life balance here is a real struggle, honestly. As a Service Technician, you're constantly on call, often pulled into long shifts fixing heavy machinery in the Plano, TX area. It's tough to plan much personal life.
Advice to Management: Management needs to really look at the workload for Service Technicians. Staffing more people or having a better rotation for on-call duties would make a huge difference in work-life balance. We're a big corporate company; we should be able to manage this better for our essential field employees.

Career Growth is Slow for Field Engineers
Pros: The job security for Field Service Engineers at Epiroc is solid. You get to work with cutting-edge mining equipment, which is pretty cool. Pay and benefits are decent for the industry too.
Cons: Career growth is really tough here, especially for technical roles like mine. There aren't many clear paths to move up. You often get stuck in the same position, even on heavy machinery projects.
Advice to Management: Management needs to create clearer career progression plans for Field Service Engineers and other technical staff. Invest in internal development programs so people don't feel stuck in their current roles.

Tough to climb the ladder here
Pros: The pay is decent for a Field Service Engineer, especially with all the travel. You get to work with cutting-edge mining equipment which is pretty cool. The benefits package is actually quite solid, covering a lot.
Cons: Career growth is definitely the biggest challenge. There's no clear path for advancement; you're often stuck in your role for years. Promotions for technical roles are really slow and competitive in this large corporate company.
Advice to Management: Epiroc needs to invest more in internal mobility and clear career development programs. Give employees a reason to stay and grow within the company, especially for specialized engineering roles.

Epiroc is solid, but don't expect fast changes.
Pros: As a Service Technician, I feel pretty secure in my role. The mining equipment industry is niche, so there's always demand for skilled people. It's a big, global corporate company, so layoffs aren't super common.
Cons: Career growth feels really slow here. Moving up for field roles can take forever and there isn't much internal mobility. You kinda get stuck in one spot if you don't aggressively push for changes.
Advice to Management: Try to create clearer paths for career progression, especially for us out in the field. Help employees see where they can go next within Epiroc.

Hybrid Model Is Decent, But Could Be Better
Pros: As a Supply Chain Analyst, I appreciated the hybrid model offered. It was nice to work remote a couple days a week from the Denver office. This flexibility helped a lot with personal appointments.
Cons: For many roles, especially in manufacturing operations or field service within the mining industry, it's pretty much all onsite work. There's not much wiggle room for them. The policy isn't super consistent across all departments either.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize flexibility policies where possible. Look for ways to offer more remote options even for some traditionally 'onsite' roles when practical. Consistency really helps.

Decent work-life balance, but expect crunch.
Pros: For the most part, you can get your 40 hours in, especially if you're good at managing your own schedule. The benefits package is solid. Working with heavy machinery is pretty interesting for a technical role.
Cons: There are times when it feels like a constant sprint, especially before big equipment deployments or when we have tight project deadlines. Weekend work isn't super common, but it does happen sometimes. Work flexibility is tough for onsite roles.
Advice to Management: Focus more on resource allocation during peak times to prevent burnout for technical roles. Maybe explore some more work flexibility options, even for those of us working onsite with heavy machinery.
