Decent place for digital media, but watch your hours
Pros: I liked the WFH flexibility for my Associate Editor role, which really helps with commuting in NYC. The benefits package is pretty solid for a corporate company, too.
Cons: The content publishing deadlines can be pretty brutal sometimes, making work-life balance tough. You often feel pressure to work beyond 40 hours, especially for publishing roles.
Advice to Management: Try to set more realistic expectations for content publishing schedules. Burnout is real, especially for junior-level staff.

Remote is good, but job security isn't great
Pros: Remote work is a big plus for content creation roles. I've really liked the WFH setup from Austin. They have solid projects in the digital publishing space, which keeps things interesting.
Cons: Job security is a real worry here. There's constant restructuring across the company. As an Associate Editor, you never feel truly safe from sudden changes.
Advice to Management: Communicate more openly about restructuring plans. Try to retain talent instead of constant layoffs, especially in the digital publishing sector. It would improve morale and job security.

Job security is a bit shaky here
Pros: For a large corporate environment in digital publishing, they do offer decent benefits when you're employed. I liked working on interesting projects, and the team for online content was solid. Being in the NYC office was good for networking and collaboration.
Cons: Job security is a real concern, especially with all the acquisitions and restructuring they do. You never really know if your role as a Content Editor will be around next quarter. Layoffs can happen pretty suddenly across various departments without much warning.
Advice to Management: Be more transparent about company direction and potential restructuring. Communicate changes better to help employees feel more secure and understand future plans.

Leadership has its moments, but needs work
Pros: Some individual team leads are really supportive. As a Junior Software Engineer, I appreciated the clear direction on daily tasks. The remote work flexibility is solid here, which is great for digital media roles.
Cons: Upper leadership often feels pretty disconnected from the teams. Decisions for this big tech company can take forever to roll out. There's not much transparency on the overall strategic vision.
Advice to Management: Upper management needs to improve communication with individual contributors. Share the 'why' behind big strategic shifts and listen to feedback from engineering teams. Try to bridge the gap between corporate goals and daily project work in this digital media space.

Leadership has some gaps, but it's okay
Pros: My direct manager for content creation was super supportive and always had my back. The remote work flexibility from Austin, TX was a big plus, letting me manage my schedule well. We had solid tools for digital media publishing.
Cons: Upper leadership sometimes felt disconnected from the team, especially for us remote Associate Editors. There wasn't much clear direction or vision from the top, which made career growth feel stagnant within this corporate environment.
Advice to Management: Try to connect more with the individual contributor teams, especially those in remote roles. Clearer communication on strategy and career paths would help.

Job Security Can Be Unpredictable in Digital Media
Pros: You're part of a huge corporate group, which feels pretty stable sometimes. There's a decent chance to jump to other Ziff Davis brands if your role is impacted. For some specific digital marketing roles in the New York City office, things can feel pretty solid for a while.
Cons: Layoffs are a real possibility here, especially on content production teams. It honestly feels like there's a big restructure every couple of years. The company's stability really depends on the latest ad revenue, which makes it tough for many of us.
Advice to Management: Try to communicate more clearly about long-term strategy. Frequent layoffs and reorgs create a lot of uncertainty and impact morale across all teams.

Pay is okay, but benefits need work.
Pros: As a Software Engineer in NYC, my base salary was pretty competitive. The health insurance plan is solid, which is a huge plus. It's a big tech and digital media company, so there's some stability.
Cons: Annual bonuses aren't really great; they're often disappointing. The paid time off (PTO) isn't very generous for a corporate company either. Remote from other locations might see better cost of living, but NYC is tough.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate the bonus structure to make it more motivating and consider increasing PTO for employees, especially in high cost-of-living areas like NYC.

Decent for a start, but growth is slow
Pros: As a Digital Marketing Specialist, I gained solid experience with various ad platforms. You learn a lot about the digital media landscape, which is good foundation work. They have good training resources when you start.
Cons: Career growth here feels pretty stagnant. There aren't many opportunities to move up or try new things within digital marketing. It's tough to get promoted even if you're a high performer.
Advice to Management: Management needs to create clearer paths for internal promotions and cross-functional opportunities. Invest more in employee development and give people a reason to stay.

Decent Flexibility for a Big Media Company
Pros: I've really appreciated the hybrid model for my digital marketing specialist role; it's a solid perk. Being able to work remote a couple days a week from the NYC office commute makes a big difference. It definitely helps manage personal life better.
Cons: The biggest issue is that work flexibility isn't consistent across teams. Your direct manager has a lot of say, which means some teams have less remote option than others. It's not truly flexible if it's not standardized for everyone.
Advice to Management: Standardize the hybrid and remote work policies across all departments. This would make the company more attractive for tech and digital media talent seeking true work flexibility.
