Decent Balance, But Can Get Hectic
Pros: For a tech startup, the work-life balance as a Software Engineer isn't bad most weeks. I usually hit my 40 hours, and the remote setup from San Francisco really helps. It's nice to avoid a commute.
Cons: But sometimes, especially during intense agile development sprints, it's crunch time. I've seen weeks go over 50 hours, which kinda drains you. There's definite pressure to deliver fast, and that impacts personal time.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage the scope of projects, especially during agile sprints. Give engineers more realistic deadlines to prevent burnout. It would help improve overall morale and keep the work-life balance more consistent.

Decent Balance for a Remote Tech Job
Pros: My work-life balance as a Software Engineer here was mostly good. Being a remote employee means no commute, which really helps. There's solid flexibility for personal appointments, which is key in a tech role. It's great for juggling life outside of work.
Cons: Sometimes, those IT consulting project deadlines get super intense. You'll definitely work longer hours then, especially leading up to a release. It's not always a chill 40-hour week, which can be tough on personal time.
Advice to Management: Try to spread out the project load more evenly. Crunch time is expected sometimes in software development, but it shouldn't feel like the norm. Better resource planning could really help here.

Culture needs a real boost here
Pros: My immediate team was great; everyone's pretty friendly. I felt good about the flexibility as a remote software engineer. The work-life balance for my role was decent, usually 40-hour weeks.
Cons: Management feels pretty disconnected from individual contributors. There isn't much recognition for solid work, which gets frustrating. The company culture, for a tech startup, felt a bit stagnant and not very inspiring.
Advice to Management: Bridge the gap between leadership and the ICs. We need more direct communication and actual recognition programs. Invest in improving the overall company culture for all employees.
