Machine Learning Engineer

Decent spot to learn, but career growth is slow
Pros: You get to work on some really cool deep learning and GPU computing projects, which is great for building out a portfolio. The remote setup is solid, offering good work flexibility if you're a self-starter. It's a good place to gain initial experience as a Machine Learning Engineer in the AI infrastructure space.
Cons: There's not much structure for career advancement beyond your initial role. I didn't see a clear path for promotions or taking on bigger responsibilities. It feels like a small startup where you might top out pretty fast if you're looking for significant career progression.
Advice to Management: Create more defined career ladders for technical roles like Machine Learning Engineers. People need to see a clear path for growth and development, not just new projects.

Junior Software Engineer

Pay is solid for a startup, benefits are okay
Pros: As a Junior Software Engineer, my base salary was pretty competitive for an early-stage startup. They do offer equity, which is nice if the company grows in the AI hardware sector.
Cons: The health benefits package is just okay; I've seen better at bigger tech companies. There aren't many perks beyond the basics, so don't expect free lunches or fancy gym memberships, especially being remote from Austin.
Advice to Management: Consider enhancing the benefits package for remote employees, especially as the company scales. Better health plans and maybe some remote stipends would really help with retention.
