Jotun is one of the leading paint manufacturers in the world. With a wide range of products within interior decoration and exterior protection, the Jotun logo can be found in more than 100 countries.
The company was founded in Sandefjord, Norway in 1926. The fonder Odd Gleditsch Sr. had witnessed whaling boats rusting away in the Antarctic. He quickly discovered the penguins; these caring creatures that overcame the toughest weather conditions. The penguin soon became Jotun’s official symbol and ambassador of the company’s values: Loyalty, Care, Respect, and Boldness.
Almost a century later, our mission remains the same: “Jotun Protects Property”. Jotun has grown into a multi-national company widely renown for high-quality paints and coatings. The Jotun Group consists of 68 companies and 40 production facilities across the world, and the more than 10,933 employees are united by a strong company culture, The Penguin Spirit.

Pros: As a Sales Representative, I really appreciated the hybrid work flexibility; it helped my work-life balance a lot. Some senior leaders in the chemical industry side were genuinely supportive. Decent benefits package and a steady job in a corporate environment.
Cons: Lower-level leadership really struggled with clear communication and consistent direction. Projects for paints and coatings often got delayed due to middle management bottlenecks. It's hard to feel like your voice is heard when things get stuck in the hierarchy.
Advice to Management: Focus on developing mid-level managers, especially in communication and decision-making. Streamline project approval processes to empower teams.

Pros: The team here is really supportive, which helps when things get hectic. It's a stable job in the paints and coatings industry, so there's good job security. The Kuala Lumpur office is well-maintained and comfortable.
Cons: Work-life balance as a Junior Accountant isn't great. There's often pressure for onsite work to stay late, especially during month-end closes. It's tough to truly disconnect from work emails after hours due to global corporate company deadlines.
Advice to Management: Management should seriously look at workload distribution, especially for accounting roles. Encourage people to log off on time and respect personal boundaries. More resources during peak times would help ease the pressure.
