Decent pay, but job security feels iffy lately

It's a solid place to work if you're into AI, but the recent tech market slowdown makes job security a real concern. We're always wondering about the next move for the company.

Pros

I've learned a ton working on the core AI platform here, which is pretty cutting-edge in talent intelligence. The product itself has a strong market position, which you'd think means good stability for Software Engineer roles.

Cons

Honestly, job security has been a big worry for many, especially those of us remote from California, given the general tech layoffs. There's a lot of pressure to hit aggressive growth targets, which sometimes makes you wonder about the long-term outlook for a startup in HR tech.

Advice to Management

Clearer communication about the company's financial health and future plans would go a long way. It'd ease a lot of minds in the current economic climate.

Great Place for AI Tech with Excellent Flexibility
Pros: Eightfold AI is a great place to work as a Software Engineer. The AI and machine learning projects in HR tech are truly cutting-edge and engaging. I've been fortunate to work with incredibly smart and supportive colleagues in Santa Clara. The hybrid work arrangement offers excellent work flexibility, which really helps me balance my personal life and professional commitments. It's a solid environment for learning and career development in the dynamic AI industry.
Cons: Being a rapidly growing AI startup, the pace can be very fast, leading to occasional periods of intense work which can sometimes impact work-life balance. Communication can occasionally struggle between rapidly scaling teams, though leadership is generally working on it. Also, the promotion process can sometimes feel a bit slower than anticipated.
Advice to Management: Continue to prioritize streamlining internal communication channels and ensuring consistent processes are established across rapidly expanding teams, especially as the company continues to grow.

Leadership tries, but execution often falls short
Pros: It's cool working on cutting-edge AI talent intelligence. As a Software Engineer, I got to tackle interesting machine learning development problems. The team is smart and dedicated, which makes the day-to-day enjoyable.
Cons: Leadership struggles with consistent communication. There's often a lack of clear direction for big projects in HR tech solutions. Decisions sometimes feel top-down without much input, which can be frustrating.
Advice to Management: Focus on clearer roadmaps and better communication channels for the distributed team. Get more input from individual contributors before making big shifts.

Decent Work-Life, But Expect Crunch Times
Pros: I really liked the flexibility being remote from Texas offered. As a Software Engineer, I could usually manage my own schedule. It's a solid perk for an AI tech company.
Cons: But, when deadlines hit, work-life balance can go out the window. There's a real startup push, so 50-60 hour weeks aren't uncommon during releases. It's tough.
Advice to Management: Management should really try to protect employee time better during crunch periods. Burnout is a real concern for folks working in AI and it impacts retention.
