Catering Coordinator

Decent place for now, but growth is slow.
Pros: You'll learn the ropes fast in the catering roles here. It's good for entry-level folks getting into the hospitality industry. The team at the Atlanta office is pretty solid, always helping each other out.
Cons: Career growth felt pretty non-existent as a Catering Coordinator. There aren't many clear paths to move up, even if you've been here a while. You often see external hires get management roles instead of internal promotions.
Advice to Management: Create clearer internal promotion paths and invest more in training for existing employees. Recognize talent within the company before looking externally for higher-level positions. This would boost morale and retain good staff.

Work-life balance is tough in inflight catering
Pros: You'll definitely get overtime pay, which is good for the paycheck. It's a pretty stable job working for a big catering company in the food services industry.
Cons: Work-life balance as a Logistics Coordinator is really tough. We often work 50-60 hour weeks, especially with tight airline contracts. On-site work in the Dallas, TX office means flexibility is basically non-existent.
Advice to Management: Try to staff better to avoid constant overtime. More predictability in scheduling for operational roles would really help employee morale.

Work-life balance can be a real struggle
Pros: The pay was actually pretty decent for the **airline catering** industry. I had a really good team on the ground, which made long days bearable. You definitely learn a lot about **logistics** and managing **onsite operations**.
Cons: Work-life balance as a **Catering Supervisor** was really tough. Expect consistent 50+ hour weeks, especially during peak travel times. It's hard to get any flexibility when you're tied to **onsite** operational demands.
Advice to Management: Management really needs to review staffing for **catering operations** at the **Toronto** facility. Burnout is a big problem when supervisors are constantly overworked. More support for **front-line leaders** would help a lot with retention.

Steady work, but don't expect big moves
Pros: As a Catering Supervisor, the work for in-flight catering operations is pretty consistent here. It's a global catering company, so job security for my onsite role in Atlanta, GA felt solid. You usually know your schedule and have consistent hours.
Cons: There's not a lot of upward movement for roles in food service operations. It feels stagnant, and while my specific job was stable, I've seen other departments go through constant restructuring. That always makes you question long-term security.
Advice to Management: Focus on clear career paths for employees and be more transparent about organizational changes.

Decent for entry-level food service roles
Pros: My immediate team at the Atlanta, GA facility was solid and we worked well together. It's a good way to get experience if you're new to the hospitality industry, specifically in food service operations. You'll meet a lot of different folks.
Cons: The overall company culture feels pretty old-school and super hierarchical. For Logistics Coordinator roles, there's not much work flexibility, which can be tough. It's a big corporate environment, so changes or new ideas just don't happen fast.
Advice to Management: Seriously focus on improving internal communication and really recognizing employee efforts more often. Modernize how you approach team building across all departments, especially within these large food service operations.

Pay is Okay, Benefits Could Be Better
Pros: I've found the hourly pay for Catering Assistant roles to be pretty steady here, and you always get your 40 hour weeks. It's a reliable paycheck if you're working at the Dallas, TX facility.
Cons: The benefits are really tough. Health insurance premiums are high, and the coverage isn't great. There isn't much in terms of a 401k or retirement plan, which is a big drawback.
Advice to Management: Newrest needs to really look at improving the overall compensation and benefits package. Offering better health insurance and a solid retirement plan would make a huge difference for employees, especially in the catering industry.

Leadership Can Be a Mixed Bag Here
Pros: I've worked in food service operations for a while, and the direct teams here are usually pretty solid. You learn a ton as a Catering Supervisor about running high-volume production. It's a big global catering company, so there's a sense of stability.
Cons: The biggest issue is inconsistent leadership from higher-ups. It's tough to get clear direction, and decisions often change. For inflight catering roles, career growth feels pretty limited unless you move locations or into a very specific niche.
Advice to Management: Focus on clearer communication from upper management. Front-line staff and supervisors in inflight catering need consistent support and direction to do their jobs effectively.

Decent, but not much work flexibility here
Pros: It's a consistent onsite role, so you always know when you're needed for food service operations. The schedule usually sticks once set. That's good if you like routine.
Cons: True work flexibility isn't really a thing, especially for onsite roles like an Operations Coordinator. Adjusting hours or getting time off for personal stuff feels like a huge ask.
Advice to Management: Consider implementing some hybrid options or at least more understanding policies for personal scheduling needs, especially for longer-term employees in operational roles.

Okay Starter Job, Not Much Room to Grow
Pros: It's a pretty stable company if you're looking for entry-level roles in the hospitality industry. You get solid experience in food service operations, especially with daily tasks. The team in the Houston, TX office was mostly friendly and supportive.
Cons: Career progression is really slow here. I didn't see many opportunities to advance beyond my Catering Coordinator role. There's not much formal training for management positions, so you feel stuck after a while. It's tough to move up without someone leaving.
Advice to Management: Invest more in developing internal talent. Create clearer pathways for career advancement and offer more training programs for employees who want to move into leadership roles.
