Pros: It's a big corporate bank, so there's a certain level of stability. As a Relationship Manager, you feel secure as long as you hit your targets. The financial services sector overall is growing.
Cons: Job security isn't guaranteed if you miss performance goals. There's constant pressure to deliver in retail banking, which can be tough. Re-organizations in the Lagos office happen too often.
Advice to Management: Try to reduce the frequency of re-organizations. It creates a lot of uncertainty and impacts morale for many employees, especially in roles like Relationship Manager. Clearer communication on performance expectations would also help.

Pros: The health insurance is pretty solid for an onsite role. We get a decent annual bonus if the bank hits its targets, which is nice. For the Lagos office, the transport allowance helps a bit.
Cons: Base salary for entry to mid-level positions isn't competitive, especially in retail banking roles. It's tough to get a significant raise, even with good performance. You'll find better pay in other financial services firms.
Advice to Management: Look at the compensation structure for junior and mid-level staff. It's hard to retain good talent when the pay isn't great compared to the market, especially for critical banking operations roles.

Pros: The exposure you get as a Relationship Manager is huge, especially in Nigerian financial services. You're constantly learning new things and the client base is pretty solid for a big corporate bank like Access Bank Plc. The team in the Lagos office is generally supportive.
Cons: Work-life balance is a real struggle for banking roles here; expect very long days. It's tough to have a personal life when you're always working late, often onsite. There isn't much flexibility, which makes it hard to manage anything outside of work.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into better resource allocation and promoting actual work-life boundaries for employees, especially for those in client-facing banking roles. Burnout is a real issue.
