Leadership is a mixed bag here
Pros: Some of the direct team leads are pretty solid. They're good at guiding us as Software Engineers on specific IT projects. You can definitely learn from individual contributors who step up.
Cons: Upper management often feels out of touch with the day-to-day. Decisions trickle down slowly in this large corporate environment. There's not always clear direction from senior leadership for projects in the IT services industry.
Advice to Management: Senior leadership really needs to be more visible and provide clearer strategic direction. Empower middle management more so they can actually make an impact without constant delays. Listen to the folks on the ground.

WFH is okay, but watch out for project spikes
Pros: The WFH setup is really solid, especially being remote from Chicago. I saved a ton on commuting. For a corporate IT services company, they do offer decent flexibility outside of crunch times.
Cons: Work-life balance here is tough during peak client project deadlines. As a Software Engineer, I often put in long hours, making it hard to disconnect. It's not always a consistent 40-hour week.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage client expectations and resource allocation, especially for software development teams. More focus on consistent workloads would help with employee burnout.

CSC Culture: It's a Mixed Bag
Pros: I liked working with my immediate team. Everyone on the delivery teams in the Falls Church, VA office was supportive. It's a solid place to learn a lot about various IT services and digital transformation projects, especially if you're new to the industry. The benefits package was pretty decent too.
Cons: The company culture feels very old-school corporate. There's a lot of red tape to cut through for even simple things. Decision-making can be super slow, which is tough on projects. You sometimes feel like just a number in such a large enterprise, which isn't great for morale or career growth.
Advice to Management: Try to cut down on the bureaucracy. Empower teams more and speed up decision-making processes. Focus on making people feel like their contributions truly matter, not just a cog in the machine. A more agile approach to internal processes would really help.

Solid Benefits, But Salary Lags
Pros: The health insurance plans were actually quite decent, especially for a large company. Their 401k match was solid too, which is a big plus. You get pretty good job security as an IT consultant here.
Cons: Annual raises for IT service employees felt really low, often just cost-of-living. It's tough to negotiate a higher base salary once you're in. Compared to other big tech firms, the compensation just wasn't as competitive.
Advice to Management: CSC really needs to benchmark salaries against current market rates for IT professionals, especially for experienced IT consultant roles. Better performance-based bonuses would help too.

Okay Pay, But Benefits Need an Upgrade
Pros: The base salary for my Software Engineer role was pretty competitive, especially working out of the Herndon, VA office. Annual bonuses were usually okay, nothing amazing but a nice little bump. It's a stable company if you're working on government contracts.
Cons: Health insurance premiums felt high compared to other big tech companies. I also felt like the 401k match wasn't as generous as it could be, especially for long-term employees. Raises were pretty minimal year-to-year unless you got a promotion.
Advice to Management: Review the benefits package, especially healthcare costs and 401k matching, to be more competitive in the IT services industry. Employees notice these things.

Okay for IT consultants, but culture needs work
Pros: You get exposed to a lot of different large enterprise projects, which is solid for learning new tech. The benefits were decent for a big corporate place. It's a stable company if you're looking for job security.
Cons: The company culture in the Dallas office felt pretty distant; there's not much team camaraderie. It's a very bureaucratic system, so getting things done can be tough. As an IT Consultant, I often felt like just a number.
Advice to Management: Upper management should really work on fostering a more connected company culture. Make employees feel valued, not just resources. Reduce some of the red tape, too, especially for consulting roles.

Pay's Okay, Benefits Are Standard for Big Corp
Pros: The base salary for an IT Consultant in the Falls Church, VA office was decent, especially for entry to mid-level roles. The 401k match is okay, definitely a solid perk for a large corporate company.
Cons: Raises are pretty small and don't keep up with inflation, which is tough. Health insurance costs feel high, and the bonus structure isn't always clear for IT services roles. It's just not competitive with bigger tech companies.
Advice to Management: Seriously, look at making raises more competitive and re-evaluate healthcare premiums. For IT services, attracting top talent means better compensation.

Career Growth Can Be Tough Here
Pros: As an IT Consultant, you do get to work on various government contracts, which is interesting. It's a big corporate environment, so there's solid job stability if you stick with it. I liked the initial training for new hires, it was pretty decent.
Cons: Career growth is a big struggle here, honestly. It feels like you're often stuck on the same project for years, even when you're working remote. There aren't many clear promotion paths for mid-level IT roles, which can get really frustrating.
Advice to Management: Management needs to create clearer career progression plans for employees. Encourage internal movement and skill development more actively, especially for those in IT consulting roles.

Okay for a Start, Hard to Grow Later
Pros: You can definitely learn a lot if you're new to the IT consulting world. There's access to tons of internal training modules and a chance to work on large-scale enterprise projects. It's a solid start for development skills in a big organization.
Cons: Career growth is tough past entry-level here. Promotion paths for Software Engineer roles aren't always clear, and it felt like you had to jump teams to move up, even if you were performing well onsite. Internal transfers were a hassle, especially within the Dallas, TX office.
Advice to Management: Management needs to create clearer career paths and promotion criteria for technical roles. Make internal mobility easier to retain good talent.

Leadership is a mixed bag, often distant
Pros: The team members I worked with were really solid. I learned a ton about systems integration on large projects, which is great for any IT consultant. Pay and benefits were pretty decent for the industry.
Cons: Leadership often felt disconnected from daily operations. It was tough when top management made decisions without understanding our project realities for IT services. Career growth, especially for consulting roles, wasn't always clearly defined from that leadership level.
Advice to Management: Try to be more visible and engaged with the actual project teams. Listen to the feedback from the ground level IT services employees; it makes a huge difference.
