Instructional Designer

Okay work, but remote culture needs help
Pros: The work for an Instructional Designer is pretty engaging, especially if you like eLearning development. You get good exposure to different learning solutions. The fully remote setup offers fantastic work flexibility, which I really appreciated.
Cons: The company culture is tough to feel part of when you're fully remote. It's hard to connect with colleagues or leadership. There isn't much effort put into building a cohesive feel for remote staff, making it feel isolated.
Advice to Management: Try harder to foster connection among remote employees. More virtual team-building or social events would go a long way. This is important for a mid-sized training company.

Decent L&D role, culture needs connection.
Pros: The team on our specific e-learning solutions projects was fantastic and collaborative. People are generally nice, which helps when you're fully remote. You get solid autonomy in your day-to-day as a Learning & Development Specialist.
Cons: The broader company culture feels a bit distant, even for a remote environment. There aren't many opportunities for company-wide social interaction or team building events. Communication from top leadership isn't always consistent, which makes it hard to feel like part of a bigger picture.
Advice to Management: Try to foster more company-wide engagement. Regular virtual social events or clearer, more consistent communication would help build a stronger, more cohesive culture for everyone, especially those working fully remote.

Pay is okay, benefits could be better
Pros: The base salary for Training Coordinator roles is decent. You get paid every two weeks, which is solid. They offer a pretty standard 401k match, good for a mid-sized corporate company.
Cons: Health benefits aren't great; high deductibles are a real bummer. There aren't many extra perks or bonuses for employee development programs. Pay raises don't keep up with the cost of living in Austin, TX.
Advice to Management: Please review the health insurance plans and consider more competitive annual raises, especially for those in the Austin office. Better perks would also help with employee retention.
