Great Place for Biotech Professionals
Pros: The company culture here at Lonza, especially in Portsmouth, is genuinely supportive. My colleagues in Process Engineering were always willing to help, which made learning new biotech processes much smoother. There are good internal training programs for career development in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. It's a stable, large company.
Cons: Sometimes, the approval processes for new initiatives can feel a bit slow. This is pretty typical for a large pharmaceutical manufacturing company, but it can be frustrating. While career progression is there, it can feel a bit slower than in a fast-paced startup. Also, project deadlines definitely lead to busy periods.
Advice to Management: Streamline some of the internal approval processes to encourage faster innovation and project execution within the manufacturing sites.

Stable Company, Good Learning in Biotech Manufacturing
Pros: I appreciate the stability working here at Lonza, especially in the biotech industry. There's a strong sense of job security, which is important for long-term career planning. I've had many opportunities to learn new processes and develop my skills, thanks to supportive colleagues and readily available training. It's a great place if you're looking to build a career in manufacturing operations within life sciences.
Cons: One area that could improve is the pace of career progression; promotions sometimes feel a bit slow given the company's size. Also, like any manufacturing role, there are occasional busy periods and project deadlines that can make work-life balance a bit tricky, but it's usually manageable. The internal approval processes can sometimes be a bit bureaucratic.
Advice to Management: Focus on streamlining internal processes to improve efficiency and actively identify opportunities for faster career progression for dedicated employees.

Solid Biopharma Opportunity with Great Team Support
Pros: Lonza offers a great team environment, crucial for a lab-based Associate Scientist in biopharma manufacturing. Colleagues are supportive, making tasks smoother. There are solid learning opportunities to expand technical skills, and I appreciate the strong focus on quality in the CDMO space.
Cons: The internal promotion process feels a bit slow, so career progression can take longer. Also, inter-departmental communication could be more consistent for better efficiency. These are minor points in an otherwise positive experience.
Advice to Management: Focus on streamlining the internal promotion pathways and improving cross-departmental communication to further enhance employee satisfaction and operational efficiency.
