Great Place for Consulting Professionals
Pros: Working as a Consultant at Avensys Consulting in Chicago, I've really valued the learning opportunities and diverse projects. It's a supportive environment with colleagues eager to help. I've seen solid career development here, focusing on the IT services industry.
Cons: Sometimes the workload can get pretty high, especially during project deadlines. Also, some of the internal approval processes can feel a bit slow or bureaucratic. It's not a major issue, just something to be aware of.
Advice to Management: Continue to invest in streamlining internal processes to reduce administrative burden on consultants, allowing more focus on client work.

Good for junior roles, growth takes effort.
Pros: I got a lot of exposure quickly as a Business Analyst, which was great for building foundational skills in the consulting industry. The project teams in the Chicago, IL office were generally solid and supportive.
Cons: Career progression isn't very clear here. It felt like I had to really push for new projects to show growth, and there aren't many defined steps for moving up from a junior role. This made planning my career path tricky.
Advice to Management: Management should really work on creating clearer career paths and skill development programs, especially for those in junior consulting roles. It would help retain talent.

Job Security is Solid, But Project Work Varies
Pros: As a Junior Consultant, I felt pretty secure here. There's usually a solid pipeline of IT consulting projects, so you're rarely without work. The remote setup also meant I saved a lot on commuting.
Cons: Sometimes the gaps between client engagements can feel long, which makes you a bit nervous. It's tough to plan too far ahead when you don't know your next project. The uncertainty was real sometimes.
Advice to Management: Keep us more informed about the future project pipeline. Better communication on upcoming client engagements would help reduce consultant anxiety about downtime.

Decent for a mid-sized IT consulting firm
Pros: Work-life balance as a Junior Consultant here is surprisingly decent most weeks. I usually hit my 40 hours without too much stress, especially when not on a major client engagement. There's good remote flexibility for Atlanta office folks.
Cons: Sometimes project deadlines mean longer hours, it's unavoidable in IT consulting. Travel for some projects can really eat into personal time, which is tough. I wish there were more explicit policies for managing burnout during peak times.
Advice to Management: Consider clearer guidelines for managing workload during intense project phases to prevent burnout. More predictable travel schedules would also help.

Work flexibility is just okay, depends on projects
Pros: Sometimes you get a cool project with a lot of autonomy. For certain Management Consultant roles, especially those not client-facing daily, a hybrid model is possible. It's nice when you don't have to be in the Chicago office every single day.
Cons: Most of the time, client demands dictate everything. Forget about true remote work; it's rare in this consulting industry unless specifically agreed. Last-minute travel changes happen a lot, which messes up personal plans.
Advice to Management: Try to push for more standardized remote work policies, not just client-dependent. Give us more control over our schedules when it makes sense for the project.

Onsite expectations make work flexibility tough
Pros: For an IT consulting firm, they offer solid benefits, especially health insurance, and there's good exposure to various client projects. I've learned a lot about different tech stacks. The team in the Atlanta office is pretty supportive.
Cons: Work flexibility isn't great here. As a Consultant, I often had to be onsite 4-5 days a week, even for local clients. Remote work options are very limited, making it hard to manage personal appointments or even just WFH sometimes.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more hybrid work or remote options for consultants when client requirements allow. It would really help with employee retention and overall work-life balance across the firm.

Decent Place, But Growth Needs a Push
Pros: I liked the range of technology solutions projects; you get to touch a lot of different things as a Business Analyst. The team is collaborative, which helps with learning new skills, especially in your first year. It's a decent place for foundational IT consulting experience.
Cons: Career growth here really slows down after entry level. There isn't a clear path for promotion or specialized skill development past basic project management. I felt like I topped out pretty quickly for my role, and options for moving up within this mid-sized firm were limited.
Advice to Management: Focus on developing clearer career paths and specialized training for employees, especially for those beyond entry-level IT consulting roles. Give people reasons to stay and grow.

Decent pay for a mid-sized IT consulting firm
Pros: The base salary for an Associate Consultant was fine, pretty competitive for New York City if you're just starting out in IT consulting. Health benefits were solid and reliable. They also offer a 401k match, which is always a good thing.
Cons: Bonuses felt pretty underwhelming, especially considering the long hours on client engagements. Don't expect massive pay jumps year over year; raises are usually pretty modest. The PTO policy could definitely be more generous.
Advice to Management: Seriously consider bumping up those bonus payouts, especially for folks who put in a lot of extra time on client engagements. Better PTO would go a long way too.

Okay Flexibility, Depends on Client Work
Pros: As a Senior Consultant, the hybrid model was a big plus. I could often work remote from Chicago, which helped a lot with errands and appointments. This flexibility is pretty good for an IT consulting firm, letting me manage my own schedule mostly.
Cons: Sometimes, client project deadlines really messed with my work-life balance. It's hard to be truly flexible when you have urgent client needs or late-night calls. The 'hybrid' setup can mean more onsite days than expected, especially if the client is particular.
Advice to Management: Try to enforce more consistent work-life boundaries for teams, even when client projects are demanding. Managers should really advocate for their consultants' time and protect remote work options.

Decent Place, but Job Security Can Be Tricky
Pros: I learned a ton as a Junior IT Consultant, especially with different client engagements. There's good exposure to various technologies, and the project teams in the Chicago office were usually pretty supportive.
Cons: Job security can be a real worry here. When consulting projects wrap up, it can feel like you're constantly looking for the next assignment. For entry-level roles, sometimes the bench time felt too long, which is tough.
Advice to Management: Try to create more internal projects or career pathing for junior IT consultants between client engagements to reduce bench time uncertainty. Clearer communication about future project pipelines would help a lot too.
