Work-Life Balance is Tough for Sales Reps
Pros: You get decent PTO, which is a plus in the building materials industry. The hybrid work setup means I'm not stuck in the Houston, TX office all week, which is nice for autonomy.
Cons: Work-life balance as a Sales Representative is pretty tough, honestly. Expect long hours, especially at quarter-end. Remote work options for sales are limited, so you're often driving across the city.
Advice to Management: Ease up on the constant pressure for sales reps. Recognize the long hours people put in, especially during peak seasons.

Metrotiles: Okay for now, culture needs work.
Pros: My team, as a Sales Associate, was solid. We really helped each other out, which is good in the competitive building materials industry. There's a decent camaraderie among colleagues at the Atlanta office.
Cons: Leadership often felt disconnected from the sales floor. It's tough to feel heard, and decisions sometimes seemed to ignore frontline input. The overall company culture could feel a bit cliquey and slow to adapt.
Advice to Management: Listen more to the people on the ground. Invest in better communication and team-building across departments to foster a more inclusive company culture.

Okay Company, but Work Flexibility is Lacking
Pros: You do get some decent benefits, and the team in the Chicago, IL office is generally supportive. Some back-office roles might have more hybrid work options than client-facing positions. It's a stable company in the construction materials industry.
Cons: There's not much work flexibility for sales roles like mine. You're expected to be onsite five days a week, which makes it hard for personal appointments. Hybrid work feels more like a suggestion than a real policy for most.
Advice to Management: Seriously consider implementing more robust hybrid work options for all roles, especially for Sales Coordinators and other client-facing staff. Trust your employees more with remote work when possible.

Culture is okay, sales targets are tough
Pros: I really liked my coworkers here. The team in the Dallas, TX showroom was always supportive, which helped a lot with tough tile retail shifts. You also get a decent employee discount on home improvement products.
Cons: The company culture feels a bit old-school, very top-down. Sales targets for Sales Associates can be pretty aggressive, making it hard to relax. It's not a very flexible place if you need WFH options; it's strictly onsite.
Advice to Management: Try to listen more to the team on the showroom floor. Relaxing sales targets slightly or offering better incentives would boost morale. Consider more modern approaches to company culture.

WFH is tough, but they try a bit
Pros: It's nice that they're pretty chill about office hours if you're stuck in traffic for your daily commute to the Dallas, TX office. You can usually shift your start/end times by an hour without too much fuss, which helps with personal appointments.
Cons: Don't expect much work-from-home (WFH) for a Sales Associate role. For this tile manufacturing and distribution industry, it's very much an onsite culture. There's no real hybrid option even for administrative staff, which feels a bit old school.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into hybrid work options, even if it's just a few days a month for specific roles. It's tough to attract and retain talent in this market without some WFH flexibility.

Growth is tough at Metrotiles
Pros: The team here is really solid, everyone helps each other out. The 'hybrid work' model for the Dallas, TX office is a decent perk. You get good exposure to the tile industry if you're new.
Cons: There's not much clear 'career growth' if you're in an operational role like a 'Project Coordinator'. Internal promotion paths aren't very visible, so you can feel stuck. Opportunities for advancement are limited.
Advice to Management: Create clear development programs and promotion tracks, especially for those in individual contributor roles. Invest in skills training to help people move up.
