About The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Oracle Lead Developer to join a dynamic team based in Glasgow. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality Oracle database solutions, primarily using Oracle 19c. You will play a crucial part in shaping the technical direction of projects, collaborating closely with stakeholders, and mentoring junior developers within a fast-paced environment. Your expertise will ensure the delivery of robust, scalable, and efficient database solutions that align with business requirements and industry best practices.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess strong experience as an Oracle Developer, particularly with Oracle 19c. Advanced proficiency in PL/SQL development, including procedures, packages, functions, and views, is essential. You should have a proven track record of leading development efforts or managing small teams, demonstrating leadership and technical expertise. Familiarity with creating comprehensive technical documentation such as Technical Design Documents (TDDs), as well as a solid understanding of database performance tuning and optimization, is required. Experience with version control systems like Git or SVN, and collaboration tools such as JIRA and Confluence, is highly desirable. Additional exposure to Oracle Forms/Reports (D2K), Oracle Hub, and reporting tools will be advantageous. Knowledge of AWS and experience with explain plans are considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the analysis, design, and development of Oracle database solutions, focusing on Oracle 19c.
  • Develop and optimize complex PL/SQL code, including procedures, packages, functions, and views.
  • Collaborate closely with enterprise architects and business stakeholders to define and refine technical solutions.
  • Produce and maintain clear and comprehensive Technical Design Documents (TDDs) to guide development efforts.
  • Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and ensure adherence to best practices across the team.
  • Own the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), overseeing design, testing, deployment, and post-deployment support.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for development activities, facilitating effective communication between technical and non-technical teams.
  • Coordinate with project managers and business analysts to ensure project milestones and deliverables are met on time.
  • Provide technical input during project planning, design, and implementation phases to ensure optimal solutions.
  • Mentor and support junior and mid-level developers, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
