Pros: As a Construction Engineer, I found that when projects were on track, the work-life balance was actually pretty good. You could usually stick to a 45-50 hour week, which isn't bad for the construction industry. The team in the Chicago office tried to support each other during crunch times.
Cons: When project deadlines hit, especially for major builds, it's a different story. Expect to put in serious overtime; I've had weeks over 60 hours, which is tough on personal life. Sometimes you're expected to be onsite early and leave late without much work flexibility.
Advice to Management: Try to manage project expectations better to avoid constant crunches for us onsite roles. More resources would help ease the burden on individual Construction Engineers.

Pros: I've worked at MSK Construction, Inc. in the Denver, CO office. The immediate team on construction projects is often solid. You can find good mentors if you seek them out, which is a big plus for a Project Coordinator.
Cons: Upper management sometimes feels detached from what field employees actually deal with. There's not much emphasis on work-life balance for onsite staff. It often feels like a 'just get it done' mentality, even if it burns people out.
Advice to Management: Focus on building a culture that values well-being for all employees. Better support and communication for Project Coordinator roles would go a long way. Bridge the gap between corporate goals and daily operational realities.
