Stable Tech Company with Great Team Environment
Pros: I've really enjoyed my time at Barco as a Software Engineer. The team here is incredibly supportive, and I've learned a ton working on various display and visualization technology projects. It's a stable company in the pro AV industry, which makes for a pretty predictable environment. The work is challenging but rewarding, and colleagues are always willing to help out, which is great for a tech professional.
Cons: While it's a great place to learn, the career growth path can sometimes feel a bit slow, especially for engineers looking to move up quickly. Promotion opportunities don't come around as often as I'd hoped, and the approval processes for new initiatives can occasionally be a bit bureaucratic. It's not a deal-breaker, but something to be aware of if you're aiming for rapid advancement.
Advice to Management: Consider streamlining the promotion process and provide clearer roadmaps for career progression for your engineering teams. More transparent communication around new initiatives could also help.

Work-Life Balance is Okay, But Varies
Pros: It's nice that Barco offers hybrid work options, which really helps balance personal life and work, especially for us in `AV solutions`. The PTO policy is pretty solid too, not amazing but fair. I appreciate the `work flexibility` when I can get it.
Cons: As a `Software Engineer` working on `enterprise technology`, sometimes project deadlines for new `visualisation products` can get pretty intense. There's definitely pressure to put in extra hours, especially close to release dates. It makes maintaining that desired `work-life balance` tough.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage workloads, especially for `R&D teams` in `display technology`. Setting more realistic timelines would help prevent burnout and improve overall `work-life balance` for everyone.

Career growth is tough for technical roles.
Pros: It's a stable, established corporate company with good benefits. The hybrid model offers some flexibility, which is nice. You work on cool display technology and AV solutions, which is interesting.
Cons: Career growth for technical roles, especially as a Software Engineer, is slow. There's not much upward mobility in the Alpharetta office. Internal training programs are limited, so you have to drive your own development.
Advice to Management: Invest more in structured career paths and development programs for technical staff. Encourage cross-functional projects to give engineers broader experience.
